Beatport and Pioneer Join Forces (quick read)

Beatport has announced a partnership with Pioneer and it’s all about streaming (which Aaron has been preaching since March 2020). The Pioneer CDJ-3000 firmware update introduces StreamingDirectPlay which will allow DJs to directly access the Beatport catalog of over 11 million tracks. Denon, Serato and Traktor have already included support for Beatport but the CDJ now will add a whole new level of options for the club DJ especially and other Pioneer CDJ users. What does it mean? Here’s our take: Instead of organizing your giant library of 100K songs… Now you have to organize & find the tracks inside a library of 11 million tracks. More options is GOOD but the tech needs to be there to help you find the bangers quickly. Crate Hackers is super stoked to help continue solve this problem going forward.

We Don’t Have To Do It With No Hands

On our Zoom workshop last week Dom and Aaron showed some examples of what AI can do for you with graphics and pictures. They mentioned the only downside was the hands always come out a little weird. Well I think the AI folks must’ve heard us. Both Midjourney and Stability AI announced new updates to their image generation. One of the many improvements include more realistic hands! Great news for DJs!
