New Tools, New Tricks: Instagram Edits App (And Other Things DJs Should Actually Care About)

From editing on the fly with Instagram’s new app, to smarter AI assistants, Star Wars daydreams in Fortnite, Evermix upgrades, and even a deep undercover country DJ mission — we’re covering the new moves you need to know this week.

Innovation Spotlight: Instagram Edits – AKA “Hey, CapCut, We’ll Take It From Here”

Just when you finally learned to use CapCut without screaming, Instagram decided to drop its own editing app: Edits.

Clearly, Zuck & Co. saw the writing on the wall: why let TikTok’s bestie CapCut have all the short-form editing glory when Instagram can simply copy-paste it into their own ecosystem? (Classic move. Respect.) Now, instead of building your DJ reels in CapCut and praying Instagram doesn’t wreck the quality when you upload it, you can edit inside the IG machine itself.

Key Features DJs Should Know About:

  • One-Tap Templates (Because We’re Busy):

Drag, drop, and let Instagram’s shiny new AI suggest cuts, effects, and the kind of transitions that scream “this guy books out months in advance.”

  • Timeline Editing Without Tears:

Just like CapCut—except built natively into Instagram. No more saving, re-uploading, or sacrificing video quality to the social media gods.

  • Viral-Focused Effects and Auto-Sync:

Instagram is pushing Edits hard. If you’re using their tools, you’re more likely to win favor with the all-knowing algorithm.

What This Means for DJs

  • Less App-Hopping:

Edit, add trending audio, caption, and post—all without leaving Instagram. (Because you barely have enough brainpower left after the last wedding gig anyway.)

  • Better Video Quality:

No more grainy, over-compressed reels because you uploaded a CapCut-exported file into Instagram’s grumpy little hands.

  • Algorithm Love:

Using Edits means you’re playing nice with IG’s internal tools, and that usually means getting a little more “boost” on the feed.

The Big Picture

Instagram wants DJs, creators, and weekend warriors to ditch CapCut and stay in-house.

Is it as robust? No. Is it fast, stupid-easy, and good enough to make your afterparty recap pop? Absolutely.

Meta Launches Its Own AI App – Because, Of Course They Did

Meta (yes, that Meta) just rolled out its own standalone AI chatbot app called Meta AI, officially tossing their hat into the already overcrowded AI ring alongside ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and every other virtual brain that’s fighting for your attention.

Because apparently, what we all needed was yet another AI app — and Mark Zuckerberg is here to deliver, whether we asked for it or not.

🤖 Key Features Worth Knowing (And Maybe Rolling Your Eyes At)

  • Standalone Meta AI App:

Available separately from Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. Finally, one place where you can talk to a robot without getting 37 friend requests from high school classmates.

  • Built on Llama 3:

Not a cute animal, but Meta’s newest large language model. It’s supposed to be faster, smarter, and (hopefully) less likely to hallucinate weird answers about DJ setups.

  • Integrated Across Meta Platforms:

Already tired of seeing AI everywhere? Good news: Meta AI is getting baked into your feeds, search, and even your DMs. Bad news: it’s really baked in. No escape.

  • Real-Time Web Answers:

Unlike some AI models stuck in 2023, Meta AI can search the current internet to give you up-to-date answers. Great for DJs who need instant info like, “What BPM is Taylor Swift’s latest remix?”

🎧 What This Means for DJs

  • Another Free Brain to Pick:

Need help writing an Instagram caption, planning a setlist, or pretending you read the rider? Meta AI is now another tool in the arsenal.

  • Cross-Posting Content Made Easier:

Since it’s integrated into Facebook and Instagram, it might streamline how you generate posts, replies, and ideas without leaving the app (or your comfy chair).

  • More Algorithm Experiments Coming:

Whenever Meta adds a shiny new tool, they tend to reward early adopters. DJs who start using Meta AI for captions, stories, or engagement could see a little algorithmic love.

🧠 The Big Picture

Meta launching its own AI app isn’t exactly shocking, but it does matter. With Llama 3 under the hood and deep integration into Instagram and Facebook, Meta AI could quietly become one of the most useful assistants DJs and creators have—whether you like it or not.

(And honestly, if it writes one fewer awkward birthday post for you this year, it might be worth it.)

The EvermixBox 5 – Now With Less Stress and More Inputs

If you’ve ever tried to record a live DJ set and ended up with “why-does-it-sound-like-this?” audio, the folks at Evermixfeel your pain. Enter the EvermixBox 5, their latest pocket-sized gadget that lets DJs record high-quality audio straight from the booth — without fighting with your phone, cables, or your inner tech rage.

🔧 What’s New in Version 5?

  • Dual Inputs = More Options

The new Box 5 adds a second RCA input so you can record both the main mix and a second audio source — like a crowd mic, another DJ, or your hype man yelling “Let’s gooooo!” at 120 dB.

  • iOS & Android Friendly

Works with both iPhones and Androids out of the box. Because finally, a DJ gadget that doesn’t make you buy a new phone.

  • USB-C Standardization

No more proprietary cables or adapters. Plug and play like it’s 2025 (because it is).

  • Improved Build & Form Factor

Sleek, compact, rugged… and yes, it still fits in your pocket. (Even if your jeans are a little tighter than they were last season.)

  • Live Streaming-Ready

Use it to stream your set in full audio glory to your platform of choice. Goodbye muddy sound, hello pro-level clarity.

🎧 Why DJs Should Care

  • Because recording your set on a phone mic is a crime.

This is the gear that separates DJs who say they want to grow from DJs who actually have clean, usable content to post.

  • Versatility = Value.

Whether you’re playing a wedding, bar, boat party, or Twitch stream, this thing makes you sound like you have a whole production crew behind you.

  • Crate Hackers Tip:

Drop it in your go bag now. You’ll thank yourself later when a club promoter asks for your last set and you’ve actually got it in WAV format (not “uh, let me find that video clip from IG”).

Fortnite’s Massive Star Wars Crossover — Because DJs Need a Break, Too

Let’s be honest: between music libraries, social media posts, and endless gear upgrades, sometimes DJs just need to unplug and blast stormtroopers for a few hours.

Good news — Fortnite’s biggest Star Wars collab ever just dropped, and it’s pure, glorious nerd chaos.

Starting May 2, Fortnite is going full hyperspace with new skins, weapons, quests, and events that might just give you the perfect excuse to “test your internet connection” for 6 straight hours.

🚀 What’s New in the Fortnite x Star Wars Crossover?

  • New Skins:

Play as iconic characters like Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and even Darth Maul (for those dark side DJs).

  • New Weapons:

Wield lightsabers, blasters, and even Force abilities. You know… for when the crowd at your next wedding gig needs a little “motivational adjustment.”

  • Star Wars Quests:

Complete missions to unlock exclusive loot. (You know you’re going to call in sick “working on crates” while chasing these rewards.)

  • New Vehicles:

Jump into a snowspeeder because apparently walking is for Sith Lords and people who still manually sort BPMs.

🎧 Why DJs Should Care

  • Mental Reset:

Trust us, your brain deserves a break from stems, BPMs, and DMs. And what better way to recharge than swinging a lightsaber at some space pirates?

  • Squad Up:

Fortnite collabs are social events. Play with your DJ friends, network… or at least blame them when you get sniped.

  • Content Opportunity:

Imagine posting a Reel where you defeat Darth Vader and then smoothly transition into your late-night deep house set. Content gold.

🧠 The Big Picture

Being a DJ today means you’re a brand, a business, and a creator 24/7—but you’re also a human being (probably).

Take the headset off for a minute, pick up the controller, and embrace your inner space rebel.

👉 Check out all the Star Wars x Fortnite madness here — and may the force be with your free time.

In this hilarious and heartfelt video, Aaron Traylor recounts how he embraced the world of country music, learned the power of nostalgia, and discovered why DJs need to stay versatile to stay booked.

Watch as he shares his journey, cheat codes for blending genres, and why creating cross-generational magic might just be your best move yet.
