ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, has been making significant moves in the AI-music field. They've secured several patents in the U.S. and developed advanced music generation models, including one trained on an impressive 257,000 hours of songs. Their technology focuses on creating music that listens and responds to musical context, pushing the boundaries of AI's role in music production.
What does it mean for DJs?
This development could revolutionize how DJs create and interact with music. The ability to generate high-quality, context-aware tracks using AI could provide endless new material for sets and remixes, potentially changing the DJing landscape.

I saw a YouTube video today of a DJ discussing how Tidal is raising the prices if you use the service in your DJ software and it would be the “death of DJ Streaming Services”. While I don’t use Tidal, I know that many of you do. So The Future DJ had to investigate.
Here’s The Deal: It’s fake news. Tidal is lowering its prices from 19.99 to 10.99 for standard users. Making high-resolution music more accessible and keeping closer in line with Apple and Spotify rates. However, if you use the service inside of DJ Software, you will be charged an extra $9 per month which brings it back to, $19.99!
What Does It Mean for DJs: For DJs, the beat remains the same. You are professional and if you use this service for professional reasons, then there shouldn’t be an issue with paying more than someone just cruising down the street with it in AirPods. This stability ensures that DJs can continue to deliver high-quality performances with Tidal's extensive music library at their disposal.
