Traktor's Big Comeback & The Serato Acquisition That Wasn't
Get the latest on Traktor Pro 4’s game-changing update and the dramatic fallout from AlphaTheta’s failed Serato acquisition.

AlphaTheta’s Serato Acquisition Hits A Snag
In a plot twist no one saw coming (or maybe everyone did), New Zealand’s Commerce Commission just gave a hard "nope" to AlphaTheta’s grand plans to buy Serato. The regulators worried this union would kill off competition and leave DJs with fewer options.
Key Points:
Regulatory Smackdown: The deal was blocked over fears it would turn the market into a monopoly playground.
Keeping Rivals at Play: Apparently, Serato and rekordbox are frenemies whose rivalry keeps the market fresh.
Onward and Upward: Serato says they're still going strong, innovation pipeline intact, thank you very much.
What’s Next for DJs?
Rejoice in the continued DJ software Hunger Games. More players mean better gear and fewer monopoly-induced headaches. For DJs, it’s business as usual with a side of "phew, dodged that bullet." Expect continued competition, which means better toys for you.

“Also, not replacing established tools without measurable increase in capacity, quality or artist value/contribution.”
“InMusic is pretty good at launching exciting products, however are usually short on quality and long term support (>2 years). I try to actively avoid their products.”

Traktor Pro 4
Traktor Pro 4 - Native Instruments Gets It Right (eventually)
Native Instruments is back with Traktor Pro 4, proving that patience might actually be a virtue. While other DJ software companies zoomed ahead, NI took its sweet time to perfect stem separation, a feature they pioneered but couldn’t quite nail down in-house. Now, you can isolate vocals, drums, and instruments right within the software. NI’s methodical approach avoided the buggy messes of its competitors. Their focus on quality over rushing features out the door means Traktor Pro 4 is robust and reliable.
Key Features:
Stem Separation: Finally! You can now separate stems within Traktor. Better late than never, right?
iZotope Integration: Leveraging their purchase of iZotope, Traktor Pro 4 includes top-notch Maximiser and stem separation tech, ensuring your mixes are as clean as your mom’s kitchen.
Pattern Player: A 16-step drum machine that syncs perfectly with your tracks, because why not?
What’s Does It Mean for DJs?
For DJs, this is Native Instruments reminding everyone they can still play ball. It’s all about robust, reliable software that lets you shine without the tech hiccups.
